A Chinese woman escaped unhurt as an escalator malfunctioned on Monday at a shopping mall in Shenyang, northeast China’s Liaoning Province.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s, stepped onto a panel of flooring at the top of the escalator when it suddenly gave way.
Staff at the mall soon shut down the escalator, and no one was injured.
This accident comes weeks after a young Chinese mother died while using an escalator at another mall in central China’s Hubei Province.
In early August, a sanitation worker at another shopping center in Shanghai was injured after the escalator floor panel he was standing on suddenly broke open.
The 35-year-old man was saved about half an hour later, but he had to have his left leg amputated while in hospital.
