Central African Republic Referendum: Heavy fighting breaks out
Heavy fighting has broken out in a Muslim enclave of the Central African Republic’s capital Bangui. It took place as voters cast their ballots in a constitutional referendum seen as crucial to restoring stability in the country. The expected approval of the draft constitution would pave the way for electing a new president and parliament, restoring democratic rule after two successive transitional governments.
