Centre’s 6 Point Argument For President Rule in Arunachal Pradesh

With Congress protesting against the Union Cabinet recommendations for imposition of President’s Rule in Arunachal Pradesh, Centre arguments for the rule. The Centre has put forward six pointers for the Union Cabinet recommendation on the President Rule in Arunachal. The points are as follow: Law and order situation has severely deteriorated even the Raj Bhavan was gheraoed. Flouting of Constitution as Governor letter on public importance were not responded. Indiscipline by officials by funding groups to publicly organize rallies against Governor. Speaker of the Assembly locking the Assembly premises and preventing entry of even the members. Governor is being publicly insulted and humiliated and the State Administration is behaving as a silent spectator. If SC rules that December Assembly Session was not valid then there will be constitutional breakdown and If SC holds that the December session was valid, then it is clear that the current Government is in a minority. Arunachal Pradesh was rocked by a political crisis on December 16 last year as 21 rebel Congress MLAs joined hands with 11 of BJP and two independents to ‘impeach’ Assembly Speaker Nabam Rebia at a makeshift venue, in a move branded as “illegal and unconstitutional” by the Speaker. Up in arms against Congress Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, 21 rebel party MLAs, including 14 disqualified a day before, with the help of BJP and independent legislators, congregated at a community hall after the state Assembly complex was ‘sealed’ by the local administration, and ‘impeached’ Rebia in an impromptu session chaired by deputy speaker T Norbu Thongdok. About 27 MLAs in 60-member Assembly, including the Chief Minister and his ministerial colleagues, boycotted the proceedings.
