Chicago releases dashcam video of Laquan McDonald’s fatal shooting

Protesters brought the city of Chicago to a standstill Tuesday after police video footage was released showing the 2014 shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald by police officer Jason Van Dyke. Until last week, officials had resisted releasing the video to the public, fearing it could jeopardize investigations. Others said it could spur major protests in reaction to footage that even Van Dyke’s attorney admits is “graphic, disturbing and difficult to watch.”
