Chile’s president declares Coquimbo as exceptional disaster zone

A hug with President Michelle Bachelet relieved the quake victim of pain and fear, right before Coquimbo was declared an exceptional disaster zone on Thursday for bearing the brunt of the 8.4 earthquake the night before.
Bachelet made the decision after learning that over 70,000 homes in Coquimbo remained without electricity.
Much of the region would stay in dark throughout the night and security measures were enhanced therefore.
Coquimbo was the most affected region of the earthquake which jolted central Chile and has killed 11 people so far.
