China becomes main market for Brazilian beef

China has become the main market for Brazilian beef exports, only eight months after lifting its 2012 embargo on Brazilian beef, an official report announced recently.
The data based on statistics from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, showed that, from June 2015 to January 2016, China bought Brazilian beef worth 906 million U.S. dollars, or 28 percent of the sector’s revenue in that time.
When the embargo was imposed in 2012 after a case of mad cow diseases was found in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, China represented only 1 percent of Brazilian beef exports.
