China calls for tougher stance on Hong Kong protests after knife attacker bites off lawmaker’s ear

China has called for a tougher stance to end months of protests in Hong Kong,
after violence over the weekend (Nov 2 to 3) left three people in critical condition.
What started as a peaceful demonstration at a shopping mall in the eastern suburb of
Tai Koo Shing turned violent when a man armed with a knife slashed several people and
bit off part of a politician’s ear. The attacker was also injured when crowds beat him up.
