China expresses regret, calls for calm after DPRK satellite launch

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called for calm and caution after the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) claimed on Sunday that it had successfully launched an earth observation satellite. The announcement of the launch was greeted by strong words from the Republic of Korea (ROK), with President Park Geun-hye terming it an “unacceptable provocation” and calling for stronger sanctions against Pyongyang.
