China flooded mine: Rescuers pumping out water

12 miners are still trapped in a flooded coal mine in Jincheng city, north China’s Shanxi Province, 36 hours after the incident first happened. Rescuers have managed to contact eight miners by phone, while another four remain unaccounted for. The miners said they had managed to ventilate the area where they are trapped. At ground level, teams are pumping water out of the mine before they can mount a rescue operation.
