“The project’s expansion with the help of Power China’s Hydro China is making very important progress.”

In March, La Rioja signed an agreement with its Chinese partners worth 300 million U.S. dollars to expand the Arauco Wind Farm by 104 megawatts in the initial stage.

“With this generation capacity we are supplying 20 percent of La Rioja province’s total energy consumption.”

In the long term, the Arauco project will make the province self-sufficient in energy and the surplus will be transmitted to the national system.

“In that respect we are strongly advancing in the cooperation that obviously comes from the enhancement of the bonds with Chinese companies through their investment.”

The present success has convinced La Rioja Province that the Chinese expertise and investment will further contribute to its clean energy generation, food production, employment and even machinery development.
