China hit by coldest temperatures in decades

China has been hit by numbing cold since early this week, with highways closed and airport traffic disrupted in 12 provinces on Friday. Temperatures in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province plummeted to minus 45 degrees Celsius early Thursday. Some parts in the northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region experienced almost zero visibility because of heavy snowfall. Meanwhile, temperatures in Beijing dropped to minus ten degrees Celsius on Friday and are expected to hit a 30-year low of minus 17 degrees Celsius on Saturday, Beijing meteorological station forecast.
