China’s central bank PBOC now requires foreign financial institutions, and bodies holding offshore yuan deposits, to hold a proportion of their yuan onshore in China. Foreign banks have to place a portion of their onshore deposits in reserve at the central bank. The PBOC said that the required ratio will be raised from its current zero deposit.
