China investments make changes in Laos

Laos is one of the world’s least-developed countries, with a third of its 6.8 million people living below the international poverty line.

Many live in remote mountain villages, which are almost cut-off from the outside world.

But change is underway as the government is trying to entice foreign investment to spur economic growth in recent years.

China now ranks among the top three countries investing in Laos and hydropower is one of the top cooperation areas.
