China sends a pair of pandas to South Korea

A pair of giant pandas will leave China for their new home in South Korea on Thursday for a 15-year research program. Yuan Xin (three-year-old male) and Hua Ni (two-year-old female) will travel on a Korean Air flight from Chengdu International Airport in southwestern Sichuan Province. The pair’s lease was confirmed after Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to South Korea in 2014, during which the two countries pledged to cooperate on panda research.
