China should be more involed in global decision making: Swiss analyst

The annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia is being held in south China’s Hainan Province.

On the sidelines of the conference, Xinhua speaks to Frank-Jurgen Richter, Chairman of Horasis, an independent thinktank based in Zurich, Switerland.

FRANK-JURGEN RICHTER, Chairman of Horasis:
“I think China should be more involved in the global decision making. In the Washington D.C.-based institutes like the World Bank, the IMF. Maybe in the longrun, Chinese individuals should run the organizations. In the past, we always got an American leading the World Bank and an European leading the IMF. I think this could change. Even on the UN level, we should have more Chinese nationals running this organization. So I think we should create a level playing field. More Chinese cooperation, less protectionism on the other side, and more influence by the Chinese leaders.”
