China’s on-going efforts in reducing poverty and developing poor rural areas have reportedly paid off. “By the end of 2013, China managed to cut the poverty population by 16.5 million and the figure for 2014 is 12.32 million,” Chinese officials cited figures at a press conference in Beijing on Monday. The goal in China reducing those in poverty by 10 million has been reached for two consecutive years.
