Heavy rains and storms have battered the country, causing severe flooding in many areas. Experts say every year the summer monsoon brings water vapor from the sea which affects the central and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The rain belt normally forms in mid-June. Rainfall is expected to continue for some days before it moves north. This year, the rain is expected to start moving north around July 5, when rain in the central and lower reaches of the Yangtze will decrease.
