China’s doctors conduct 12-hour surgery to save penguin swallowing pebble

Surveillance camera footage shows that in the polar zoo of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, a penguin had a pebble stuck in its mouth after another penguin tried to snatch it away. The penguin was sent to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Almost all the tools the doctors used were made on the spot, since their medical facilities are designed for humans. They tried various methods before they finally took the pebble out of the penguin’s stomach after 12 hours of surgery.
