China’s Dong ethnic minority celebrate romance for Shangsi Festival

Saturday was the third day of the third month of the Chinese lunar calendar, a traditional festival otherwise known as Shangsi or the Double Third Festival. Celebrated across China, Shangsi Festival is particularly important for many of China’s ethnic minorities, and various celebrations were held across the country for the festival, which took place on Saturday. But for the Dong people who mostly live in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province, this festival has a special and particularly romantic meaning.
