China’s first privately funded research ship sets sail

A ship of epic proportions is ready to hit the high seas. Beloning to Shanghai Ocean University, it is the first privately funded ship of its kind in China. The school named the research vessel after its founder, Zhang Jian, a leading advocate for enterprise and modernization. The towering ship carrying his name has a nautical range of 1,500 miles and can even carry subs.
