As China exits the transition phase of its accession to the World Trade Organization, a rumor is running red-hot across the Chinese mainland. Some say import taxes and tariffs will disappear overnight in the coming weeks, 15 years after Beijing became a member of the global grouping of 166 nations. It would see the price of goods bought from overseas plummet. But, our panel explains the rumor is just that. China, in fact, met most of its membership obligations by 2010.
