China’s PandaX experiment releases latest results

Scientists across China and the United States collaborating in the search for dark matter have reported their latest results from the PandaX experiment, further narrowing down candidates for the location of dark matter particles. The experiment was conducted in an underground lab in southwestern China’s Sichuan Province. Dark matter is the leading candidate in explaining gravitational effects observed in galactic rotational curves and galaxy clusters. If confirmed, dark matter particles would deepen the understanding of the fundamental building blocks of nature, going beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. Also, it would provide further support for theories on extra dimensions of space-time.
