China’s poverty relief policies attract migrant workers to come back

For the next five years, the Chinese government has named poverty reduction one of its top priorities.

With the aim, the government has carried out poverty relief programs which have benefited millions of poor people.

Attracted by favorable policies, some farmers who worked overseas came back to their hometown to help its development.

“I’ve worked in agriculture sector in Japan for three years. During the period, I’ve learnt a lot of advanced technologies. After coming back, I hope I can help my hometown realize agricultural modernization.”

“In our county, there are 78,000 people working in other provinces and 3500 people working overseas. And 20 percent of those who worked overseas have come back to start their own business.”
