China’s Qingming Festival ends as millions return home

Monday marks the traditional Chinese Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb-sweeping Day. It is a time to honor ancestors and pay respects to loved ones who have passed away. On Monday, the last day of the Qingming three-day weekend period, the country’s major roads and railways have seen millions of people making journeys, with a total of more than 11 million trips expected to be made on the country’s railway network on the last day of the three-day public holiday.
