China’s Minister of Science and Technology, Wan Gang, explained during a press conference on Monday the outline on innovation-driven development strategy, which has been recently published by the State Council, China’s cabinet. The scheme devises systemic plans for scientific industries’ regional and organizational innovation, innovation in military-civilian coordination and mass innovation. China’s total R&D expenditure exceeded 1.4 trillion yuan in 2015, accounting for 2.1 percent of the country’s GDP. China aims to become an innovative country by 2020, and an innovation power by 2050.
