China’s tough new food safety law takes effect

With China’s new food safety law taking effect from October 1, violators will face the heaviest civil and criminal punishments ever mandated. The law also requires the unification of food safety standards and creation of a national monitoring and evaluation system. But can it restore public confidence in the Chinese food industry?
