Chinese FM makes five-point plan for SCO development

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has hailed the achievements of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or SCO, since its establishment 15 years ago. He has also presented a five-point proposal to further the organization’s development, urging all members to strengthen political mutual trust and unity. Wang Yi called for intensified efforts to fight terrorism, highlighting intelligence exchange, crisis warning, emergency management and joint law enforcement. He said China stands ready to strengthen policy coordination and alignment of development strategies with other members, based on the joint construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt. The minister called for the gradual expansion of SCO membership, saying inclusion of more members into the SCO demonstrates the vitality of the organization and its bright future. He also said people-to-people links should be cemented and mutual understanding among the peoples should improve.
The SCO is made up of  China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
