China and Russia will hold routine naval exercises in the South China Sea in September. The Chinese Defense Ministry said the drills are aimed at strengthening the China-Russia strategic cooperative partnership, and were not intended to provoke any other country. Last year, they held joint military drills in the Sea of Japan and the Mediterranean.
