A split kick by Chinese martial artist enthralled the Chileans on January 17 in the southern American country’s Pacific coastal city of Vina del Mar.
As the city concluded its week-long celebration of the Spring Festival, a Chinese dance troupe presented dazzling skills and performances to the local audience.

“Extraordinary! We are very happy to watch it. It involves a lot more people than we expected. … We celebrate today, but the Spring Festival comes on February 8. Welcome the Year of the Monkey!”
The show was sponsored by the Confucius Institute in Chile in order to promote bilateral cultural exchange prior to the Spring Festival, or the lunar calendar Chinese New Year.
The song and dance ensemble from China’s northeastern province of Jilin once performed for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 and has visited more than 30 countries.
