Chinese teacher derive joy teaching Mandarin in Nigeria

For Liu Wenpan, a Chinese Language teacher in Nigeria, the joy of positively impacting the lives of other people is possibly the greatest satisfaction any teacher can ever have.

As people across the globe celebrate the annual World Teachers’ Day on Oct. 5 in honor of the sacrifices done by teachers, with this year’s theme: “Valuing Teachers, Improving Their Status”, Liu said his satisfaction is derived from the ability of many local people in Nigeria to now speak and write the Chinese language.

For three years now, the 32-year old Chinese has taken up the responsibility of teaching Mandarin at the Nigerian Education Resource Center in Abuja.

Liu’s goal of teaching as many people as possible the Chinese language brings him joy as it yields positive results because, according to him, this will particularly bolster the cultural exchange between China and Nigeria.
