Cholera in Haiti: Red alerts issued over outbreak

The island nation of Haiti is fighting against an outbreak of cholera. Haitian authorities say ten months after a devastating earthquake in 2010, a cholera epidemic broke out. Around 16,000 cases have been reported this year, with around 175 deaths. Four departments in the country have issued red alerts, and health centers have been set up across the island, including the capital Port-au-Prince. There have been roughly 10,000 cholera-related deaths since the beginning of the decade.
