A Winston Churchill Paintings Exhibition opened on Friday aboard Queen Mary, in celebration of the famous ocean liner’s 80th anniversary of maiden voyage. The Churchill family and the National Churchill Museum joined hands to bring the priceless collection into a new gallery space.
On May 27, 1936, Queen Mary sailed on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. At that time, it was considered the best ocean liner ever built. Winston Churchill had a life-long connection to Queen Mary. He was there at the ship’s launch and during its maiden sailing, later used it as his “war-room” at sea, and also traveled aboard it in peace time.
