Cities in China issue red storm alert for Typhoon Nida

Many cities in southern China have issued a red storm alert after Typhoon Nida made landfall on Tuesday. Strong waves damaged a dam in Guangdong Province. The typhoon also caused power outages, affecting more than 10,000 people. China’s weather bureau said Typhoon Nida is the strongest storm to hit the Pearl River Delta since 1983. The agency alerted local officials and residents about possible severe flooding.
