Speaking to TIMES NOW on the verdict to be given by Justice RM Lodha in the IPL fixing case, Justice Mukul Mudgal, whose committee probed the IPL betting scam, today said he has complete faith in the Juctice Lodha committee and that it will be a good verdict. “I can’t say anything about the verdict, but I am sure with such an eminent panel it will be absolutely just and proper. But they have two parts of their working, one is the punishment, if any, on our findings and the second part is functioning of the BCCI which will be taken up after today’s verdict,” Justice Mudgal said. When asked it was based on his committee’s report that it was established that Raj Kundra and Gurunath Meiyappan were indeed involved in betting and were in constant touch with the bookies, he said, “It is our finding accepted by the Supreme Court and now the SC appointed committee is deciding what action should be taken on the basis of the finding.” A Supreme Court-appointed committee, headed by former Chief Justice of India R M Lodha, will today pronounce the quantum of punishment against IPL teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals and their team officials Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra for betting during IPL 8 season. The panel will also decide the fate of two IPL franchisees Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The apex court had on January 22 held that the allegation of betting against Meiyappan and Kundra stands proved and set up the three-member committee of its retired judges, including Justices Ashok Bhan and R V Raveendran to determine the punishment for Meiyappan, who was the CSK team Principal and Kundra, co-owner of RR.
