Palmyra is bursting with the music of life after ISIL attempted but failed to mute the echoes of history and art in the ancient Syrian city. Palmyra Roman Theater witnessed a symphonic concert by local talents, under the title of “The Sun Gate” –the second such event to be held in the once ISIL-controlled city after the Russian orchestra’s performance headed by Maestro Valery Gergiev. Militants of the terrorist group had previously blown up the time-honored theater following a mass execution of 25 Syrian soldiers there. CCTVNEWS correspondent Alaa Ebrahim reports from the scene.
