Conference proposes incentives for Middle East peace process

An international conference on the Israel-Palestine peace process wrapped up in Paris on Friday. French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said major powers were aiming to study a set of economic incentives and security guarantees by the end of June, to bring Israelis and Palestinians back to the negotiation table by the end of the year. A final communiqué said all sides had reaffirmed the need for a negotiated two-state solution. The world powers also agreed that negotiations between Israel and Palestine should be based on existing UN Security Council resolutions.
