The Democratic Republic of Congo is delaying its next presidential election until next July at the earliest. The decision made by the nation’s Election Commission will allow long-standing president, Joseph Kabila, to stay in power past the end of his term. The country’s main opposition alliance have rejected talks with the government over the postponement and called for a general strike.
