Congress Gives a Notice on AgustaWestland in Rajya Sabha

Congress on Thursday (April 28) has given notice in Rajya Sabha over the Rs 3,600-crore VVIP gustaWestland chopper deal. Political storm is expected over the issue in both houses of Parliament. AgustaWestland’s Rs 3,600 crore contract for supplying 12 VVIP choppers to the IAF Force was scrapped by the UPA Government over charges of paying kickbacks to Indian agents. In January 2013, India cancelled the deal and the CBI was assigned to investigate the matter. CBI had in 2013 registered a case in connection with alleged bribes paid by the firm to Indians to clinch the deal for 12 helicopters to ferry VVIPs including the President and Prime Minister.
