Could surrogacy help Chinese parents who’ve lost their only-child?

Chinese lawmakers deleted a provision banning surrogacy in all forms while approving an amendment to the country’s family planning law on Sunday. Lawmakers were divided on the provision, with some arguing that legalizing surrogacy could help at least one million families have children. The Ministry of Public Health says there have been at least one million families who have lost their only child. And the number of such families has been growing by 76,000 each year. Demographers estimate that families who have lost their only child will grow to 10 million in the near future.
