12,000 people who were asked to temporarily move out of their village in south China’s Guangzhou while their homes were replaced with modern buildings have celebrated the project’s completion with a massive outdoor feast in their newly modernized neighborhood. Residents of Yangji village moved out in 2009, and the reconstruction of the village lasted for seven years. With the significant rise in property values during that time, each Yangji family now owns an average of 10 million yuan (1.6 million US dollars) worth of property assets.
