Courier truck catches fire, 4,000 parcles burned

A courier truck, carrying more than 4,000 parcels, caught fire on a highway in east China’s Jiangxi Province on Thursday.

The accident happened at around 5:20 in the morning.

The courier truck was on its way from Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi to Xiushui City, carrying parcels worth of one million yuan, or 157,000 U.S. dollars.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

The accident took place one day after China’s Singles’ Day, Nov. 11, on which Chinese online retailers have reported billions of dollars of sales.

This means a sleepless night for courier service providers, as hundreds of millions of parcels needing to be delivered nationwide.
