About 900 GP clinics are being progressively activated as Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs) to care for patients with respiratory symptoms. Compared to a regular clinic, patient registration starts from outside the clinic. Patients need to fill up a questionnaire about their travel history. Should any patient be deemed a suspect case, they will be brought through the clinic’s back door to enter the isolation room. There, the doctor uses a different set of medical equipment and will also don personal protective equipment to prevent potential transmission. Suspect cases of COVID-19 will be sent to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.
