Dakar Rally drivers roll into treacherous sand dunes in Bolivia

Peru’s treacherous sand dunes have been the downfall of many drivers in the 2018 Dakar Rally. Some drivers have been able to push through the tough terrain while others have had to give in to the harsh conditions.

Motorcyclist Sam Sunderland of the UK, who was a favorite in the competition, had to drop out in the 4th stage due to a back problem. Sebastian Loeb of France racing in the car category had to quit the race after getting trapped in a dune, which gave other drivers a two and a half hour lead.
