Dancers celebrate the Feast of the Cross

Over 20,000 traditional dancers from across Mexico gathered in the central city of Queretaro to mark this historic festival, which is held every year from Sept. 13-15.

According to legend, this parade recalls the last battle between Spanish conquistadors and the Chichimeca people in 1531, where the indigenous inhabitants surrendered after a cross miraculously appeared before them. This event allegedly led to the founding of city of Queretaro.
