DCW Chief Swati Maliwal Speaks To Times Now | Nirbhaya Rape Case

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal told TIMES NOW that she hoped the Supreme Court would not let the Nirbhaya juvenile walk free today. The SC is all set to hear DCW’s plea to stay the juvenile’s release. “I very strongly feel that the Supreme Court will take a decision that our parliamentarians have not been able to take for the past three years,” she said. She added that DCW’s fight was “for all Nirbhayas” of the country. Countering charges that DCW’s plea was a last minute attempt and was a publicity stunt, Maliwal stated that she had earlier sought an internvention from the President, the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of India and the Vice-President of India. However, it did not yield the desired results. Following this, she decided to file the SLP in the court.
