Deadly floods sweep across Pakistan, killing 69

Heavy rains have rattled northwest Pakistan, leaving at least 69 dead and tens of thousands homeless in the past half month.

Flash floods washed away bridges, cut roads, inundated villages and farmlands.

The authority said the downpours have affected 300,000 people so far, and warned of more rains this week.

Rescue efforts are underway as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced an aid package of 5 million US dollars and the military evacuated more than 40,000 people from the rain-hit areas.
