Death toll from India’s liquor poisoning scandal rises to 87

The death toll from India’s latest incident of mass alcohol poisoning following the consumption of toxic homemade liquor rose to 87 on Saturday, Mumbai police said. Officials said police arrested five people who transported and sold the liquor to poor workers. Eight police officers have also been suspended for “negligence” for allowing the sale to take place in their areas.
