Delhi Police Oppose Odd-Even Formula? | B.S Bassi Speaks Exclusively To Times Now

Delhi top cop BS Bassi on Tuesday (December 29)confirmed that the police had received the notification by the AAP Government over the odd-even formula for traffic control, due to be implemented on January 1, 2016. “Without going into merits-demerits of the notification, we will enforce the law, according to the notification,” Bassi said. He added that the long list of exemption from the law did not pose a serious problem to the execution of the odd-even formula. Bassi, however, urged the citizens to cooperate with the police and warned them of taking any steps, such as using fake registration plates, to circumvent the new odd-even notification. Delhi government’s ambitious scheme, set to roll out from January 1 for 15 days, has been proposed to curb pollution in the national capital by restricting movement of private vehicles based on their registration numbers. VIPs, women drivers, CNG-certified vehicles, two-wheelers and those carrying the differently-abled are among the 25 categories exempted from the scheme.
