Despite the surprising result of a referendum rejecting a peace deal, FARC rebels have vowed that they will commit to upholding peace throughout Colombia. The group’s leader Timoleon Jimenez said on Sunday that “FARC maintains its willingness to use dialogue as the only weapon for building the future”. He made the comment in a speech in Havana, where the rebels and the government reached an agreement to end their half century-long conflict.
