Recently a woman was attacked in a Beijing hotel, in full view of staff. A video of the incident went viral, sparking public outrage as well as questions about women’s safety in China. Should the hotel be culpable? Why did bystanders do nothing? How can women protect themselves against such attacks, and could Chinese law do more to serve them?
